The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is going to bat for an open Internet. The agency plans to rewrite the rules that govern how Internet traffic is delivered from service providers to customers in the wake of a court decision that struck down previous rules protecting net neutrality
FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler outlined the commission's proposed new rules in a statement released Wednesday. The agency will not appeal the court's decision; rather, the FCC is viewing the decision as "an invitation for the commission to act to preserve a free and open Internet," according to a senior FCC official who briefed reporters.
